2. It should have been an easy project

I think I'm just too tired for even non complicated stuff, right now. But I sat back, took a breath, switched tactics and finally, SUCCESS!! Oh, and realizing there was an on/off button was 'enlightening', to say the least.

I'm going to concentrate on DYI flea killing, today. I'm actually thinking about fashioning some coveralls out of a trash bag to keep them off of my trousers while I'm outside plotting and initiating their demise.

3. My 94 yr old dad got a skill saw from Amazon (we sold all his tools as he was in assisted living), laid ...

... a cabinet door on his lap to "trim it" and put a 4" gash on his leg that took all night in the ER to stop bleeding and managed somehow to miss nerves, bone and major artery. We've caught him with two more before he got to use them, since.

Simple rule for self repairers: "Skill saw: no gloves. Gloves: no skill saw. Otherwise you'll be ordering a round of ten drinks with only eight or nine fingers.

7. Hubs lost part of a thumb doing something just as dumb with a skill saw.

And he wasn't anywhere near 94 yo!!! I now try to supervise when he's using any and all power tools, since I'm not well-versed in them, myself. And try to get other, younger friends to do whatever it is hubs thinks MUST be done "right now." Husbands and power tools... two things that worry be greatly!

8. I caught the fleshy side of my thrumb in a table saw in my late twenties. I took a piece of wood ...

... out of the hands of an office drone, it was too small to be cutting on the big industrial saw. "Hey," he said, " don't you need the guard down?"
"Not if you know what you're doing!" I said as the blade neatly removed a layer of skin. I was very lucky. Took a while for it to heal because there weren't two ends of flesh to heal together.

I am very careful and became safety officer in a couple of places I worked at after. I'm in my seventies and wifey has made me de-acquisition my power tools except for two drills. I did not put up much of a fight. I can do more than enough damage with a hammer and screwdriver. Have you made him give up his collection of screws, nuts and bolts? I have mine hidden!
