Later this morning I'll finish off last nights leftover pasta and garlic bread with hot tea to drink.

(6,843 posts)I wondered why back joints had ached so bad all day. But I never did see a forecast for rain! (LOL) I was happy to see it. The temp wasn't quite cool enough yet for long enough... I'm waiting for that good cold snap after a rain. That'll turn the leaves on the maples, especially, absolutely gorgeous. Instead of just browning and falling to my just raked lawn.

(6,843 posts)and started working on my protest posters. Am heading to the store quickly to get some small bottles of water and trail mix and chips to take with us to the rally. Thought I'd swing by McDonalds and get an egg biscuit and has browns for me and hubs for breakfast.
I'd like to get everything into my crockpot for chicken and wild rice soup... that'll way it'll be ready to eat once we get back home, anytime we want it in the evening. Thought I'd get some biscuits to go on top of the soup... it's a thick soup, and with the shredded chicken and veggies I add, it could double for a thin chicken pot pie (with the biscuit topping).

(6,843 posts)Hubby's trying to finish up the posters right now. I cooked a pound of hamburger so it wouldn't go bad before I use it in 2 days; also sauted a package of slivered sirloin, then cut up the chicken (since I use mostly white meat for me), and did a huge job cutting on all the veggies going into the soup tonight, as well.
Chicken legs are going to be added to the pot tonight to give it a bit of a flavor boost for hubs, and the rest of the dark meat that he doesn't eat will be surprise for Lexy, our dog.. and meted out among the cats for treats.
I've currently got a cup of wild rice in a pot of the stove, hoping it gets done before my friends are here to pick us up for No Kings. Looking forward to finishing up the soup tonight when we get home. It is really working towards being excellent, I hope! (I also thought this evening I'd saute some spinach leaves, after slivering them a bit, and adding a little of that into the soup, as well, to boost the nutrition level. Has anyone done anything like that? Is it just too insane? (LOL) I've only used spinach in the past in my tuscany chicken...
