I know, big whoop.
Our old machine was about 25 years old. It has been a dependable appliance and the only maintenance I ever had to do was replace the rubber gaskets on the doors. The compressor had started making noises and the condensation build up was out of control. It was time to go shopping.
The new one is an LG French door style so the fridge has two doors and the freezer is a pull-out drawer on the bottom with an automatic ice maker in the freezer. Its finished in stainless steel which was not our first choice but thats the only finish for the 30 wide unit. It has a capacity of 21 cubic feet and the shelves and drawers are very sturdy.
It was ridiculously expensive. We saw other larger units with many advanced features priced over $2,500. We didnt spend that much and we dont expect this machine to last 25 years but then maybe we wont last that long, either!

over head cabinet. The fridge I have is 65 inches high, all the manufacturers decided to make them 66 1/2 inches now.

(1,366 posts)The front is usually two inches higher than the box of the refrigerator because the hinges are above the box in front.. I know this because I had the same concerns when we looked at a refrigerator purchase. I

65 inches but we're slightly too high. I think now the standard is 66 1/2. The hinges on mine are actually 65 1/2 but they are further out from. the cabinate. The only one I found at the time was a Whirlpool, they don't carry that model anymore. Unless maybe you could special order one?

(30,959 posts)I love the idea of the French door refrigerator. We got a side by side and have the big freezer in the garage.
Enjoy your new appliance.
