It's 90 degrees and going up. And I'm making soup.

Hoping my kitchen will act like a sauna and I'll lose a few pounds along with a low-carb/low-calorie dinner.

P.S. And I must be a glutton for punishment: I dedicated 30 minutes to cleaning the accumulated grease under the cover of my stovetop.

Wrap a chunk in a towel or wash cloth and hold it against the back of your neck.

Put more ice in water and stay hydrated.

I'm out here in dry-ass sierras... only supposed to be 78 today but my living room like to be an overachiever and hold the heat...

What kind of soup?

Making Farmhouse Vegetable and Barley Soup. Not totally vegan as I'm using chicken bone broth.

and I'll be getting some heavy cream and potatoes in my grocery delivery on Thursday. I will eat some of the fresh soup hot. The leftovers will ve vichyssoise, perfect with the mid to upper 90s here in the southwest desert.

I didn't get to cook this or any other soup last winter, I was flooded out of my apartment and too ill when I got back to cope.
