Thai honey mangoes!!!
Thai Honey mangoes, also known as Nam Doc Mai mangoes, are a popular variety known for their exceptionally sweet, honey-like flavor and smooth, fiberless flesh. They are elongated, slender, and typically have a yellow-green skin that turns golden yellow when ripe, often with a slightly wrinkled appearance. These mangoes are a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as fiber.

(1,230 posts)Used to buy in bulk from an oriental market (we moved too far away) and I made fruit leathers to preserve them (basically just puréed them and spread on a sheet)--meaning they might last a couple weeks because we gorged ourselves. Best reason to buy a dehydrator, next to making apple rings and vegan meringues. 😋

The bowl of mangoes I just put in the fridge was so heavy. I wondered how I would take me to lose that much weight. Probably a little while longer after I eat all a bunch of those mangoes.
Growing up, we had friends with trees and would always come home and find paper bags full of the deliciousness during mango season and then you'll have to figure out who dropped off the fruit so you could bring them whatever you make that's good. And round and around it goes like that a little less so now but we work to keep it rolling.
Sorry if it gives you the onos.
Come home!

(36 posts)I've heard someone describe the mangoes frim HI as 'heavenly'. But I can't find them on the W. Coast. But I did buy a whole box of desert mangoes from Mexico. Each one weighed believe it or not 2 lbs and look
Huge. Simply delish. I couldn't eat one. Refrige the half sucked. Anyway back home we grow 32 different varieties of mangoes. Brought to our doorstep as soon as the batch arrived. From juicy bearded ones to sour, to different colors. I recall at school break we'd run outside to grab sweet 'n sour dices in a paper sprinkled with salt, spices etc. Fond memories.
