Hot Italian sausages with sliced orange kabocha squash. Slow cooker (of course!) 'cuz I have to work until dark.

We’re in our new home in Panama and our friends (from whom we bought our place) are having a party on the beach with other neighbors and some local residents. They’re grilling sausages, shrimp, tuna steaks and chicken legs. Several salsas for condiments. Corn on the cob and a local cole slaw as sides. Tortilla chips and various breads as well. Pina coladas and various fruits for dessert including pineapple, mango, papaya and more.

It’s the rainy season right now and the downpour earlier cooled things off. It had been 90 degrees and humid at lunchtime. Now it’s clear and the sunset should be pretty.

This is something I used to make a lot for my family when the kids were younger. My daughter reminded me about it during a recent phone call. I hadn't thought about it in a long time.

biscuits from scratch, a small salad with radish, red cabbage and cucumber.

Tomorrow is the church potluck, so I made creamed chicken and asparagus, to have over biscuits. I made plenty of biscuits, so there's strawberry-rhubarb jam from the farmers market to have with them too. I cut up a couple mangoes and bought some cut-up pineapple to take as well.
