What's for Dinner, Sun., May 4, 2025

Lemony Orzo with Asparagus & Garlic Bread Crumbs. I made this Friday but was so tired I only assembled a sampling of the dish. Today I will complete the recipe.

Raining here and it's hard to resist simply going to bed with tea and a book.

Orange sherbet for dessert. Plain sugar cookie. Earl Grey decaf.

SIL flew home to FL for a class reunion and asked to meet at Panera. I’m not sure I’d ever been but I ended up with a “small” strawberry salad with poppyseed dressing. Kiosks for ordering, the food was pricey, and though not bad, was way too much food. Luckily, son insisted on taking my leftovers and will undoubtedly eat it tonight (he eats like a hobbit—first and second dinner kind of guy--and got an $18 sandwich and bev and was only able to eat half, as well).

After having to order for ourselves and pick up our own food from the pass-through, son left a tip and afterwards, we felt silly for doing so. It’s apparently been a REALLY long time since I’ve eaten out and I’m not sure I’ve been missing out on anything all this time. Suddenly, the idea of frozen burritos, grilled sandwiches, and Instant Pot meals doesn’t seem like I’m missing out on much.

$18 for a sandwich is way too much. I used to go there a lot because my brother kept buying me gift cards.

I didn't think they rated those kinds of prices.

Sandwich, a tiny bag of chips, and a soda. Granted, he could only eat half of it though he normally eats like a horse, but damn.

As if that wasn’t enough incentive to stay away, I also just saw a meme that included them in restaurants that donated heavily to the orange bawbag, so the boycott is an easy one.

... with pepperoni and olives.
I used store-bought pizza dough - it came together very quickly.
