I'm making Gratin of Turnips and Rutabaga

I know I have to peel the rutabaga.

Do I need to peel the turnips after washing?

1. I always peel turnips, but that's because the ones I get from the farmers in my area are

grown in Georgia red clay soil and sometimes grains of dirt are embedded in the 1st layer of the skin.
