Ingredients

1 cup - Grits, stone ground are the best
4 Cups - Water
1/2 teaspoon - Salt
2 tablespoons -butter

Directions:
1. Slowly stir grits and salt into briskly boiling water.
2. Reduce heat to low. Cover pot.
3. Stir every 5 -7 minutes, for ~ 30 minutes adding water as needed. Continue process until you achieve desired texture.
4 . Add butter and stir in vigorously, salt and pepper to taste

Cooking time may vary depending on desired consistency. Soaking the grits overnight will reduce cooking time and give you a different consistency.

The best grits combination is shrimp and grits. But I don't have any shrimp today. I usually keep some in the freezer. You can also use crab meat.

I like mine with coarse ground black pepper.

If I'm going to add cheese I use grated extra sharp or sharp cheddar.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your reply, irisblue.
