First up, cold creamy tomato soup with four-cheese ravioli.
Is this ever easy for a hot day. It's only 80 here but it's humid. To avoid heating up the kitchen much, I heated water in the microwave and then put it in a pan. It came to a boil fast and I only needed to boil the ravioli for 3" anyway.
Put it in the room temp soup, which came out of a box (Pacific brand, very good) and put chopped basil on top.
Next up is a tossed green salad, for which I washed all the greens last night, so that will be easy, too. I'm using the usual cucumber, cherry tomatoes, scallions, celery and green peppers, all from the garden. I have cold shrimp to put in the salad and will use Caesar for the dressing.

I do have some pics for you, however. The pics are from the RG, who went to Beunos Aires for a 10-day vacation because he was sick of the heat. Winter there.

(7,629 posts)Believe that is what a really bad stomach ache is called. My dads family always referred to those as colremorbus.

(40,098 posts)It's a really good way to have cucumbers, but have never heard it called colremorbus.

(1,802 posts)a zander filet, topped with a mixture of a chopped fresh tomato, a few Kalamata olives and capers, shallot and onion briefly microwave sauteed in olive oil, tarragon and chopped fennel fronds, and a dash of sherry vinegar, then baked. Also braised fennel and baked potato. Dessert is a plumcot and peach galette.
We eat pretty simply on the weekdays - tomorrow is minestrone - I only cook on weekends, my son cooks during the week. Although sometimes he goes gourmet himself.

(40,098 posts)For the top of the Zander must have been delicious. The fennel fronds make a spectacular plate presentation.
I have this huge fennel at one of my gardens. It has the fronds and dozens of yellow seed heads. Ill try to remember to get a pic. I really need to stake it. It is over 6 tall!
Fennel is so much fun to cook with.
