On Fri. Callalily posted a pic of a dish using zucchini noodles. I liked the curly way they cooked, so I was looking for a recipe I could make using a zucchini I'd purchased. Sadly, no zucchini from my garden....YET.

Consulting Joshua McFadden's cookbook Six Seasons A New Way with Vegetables, I found "Squash Ribbons with Tomatoes, Peanuts, Basil, Mint, and Spicy Fish-Sauce Sauce." This title pretty much covers everything in it except for the scallions.

We're having a thunderstorm shortly, so I figure I'll do this since I can't be working outside.

I'll poach salmon to go with it. I will probably put balsamic glaze on the top. Serve it cold.

Dessert: a few windmill cookies and some cold tea.

I’m getting to the point where I prefer our home-made ones to delivery ones - even though we don’t have a pizza oven.

BTW, what is it that gives New York pizza sauces that distinctive smell? We were in NY recently and the smell was noticeable when we walked into the pizzeria. I’ve heard it’s fennel, but fennel seeds don’t seem to have that effect on our sauces

4. YUM! Thanks for the squash ribbon recipe idea!

I found it on the internet, saved it and will add to my future menu list. Any recipe that uses fish sauce has got to be good!

Tonight we're having Pork tenderloin with chimichurri sauce, roasted potatoes and sauteed green and red cabbage.

5. Salmon packets

salmon, dill, lemon slices, a few cherry tomatoes in parchment packets. Collard greens and baked potato for sides.
