(39,062 posts)Darker chocolate sort of buries the subtle taste of the nuts.
This from a lifelong chocoholic who always goes for the dark chocolate first.
A friend gave me a similar recipe in grad school and it is delicious. Pepperidge Farm sells them. They are a big hit with those who have a sweet tooth/teeth.

(92 posts)No such thing. The people who make it have you convinced it is. There is NO cocoa powder in this stuff, so it's not chocolate.

(21,013 posts) White chocolate is a confectionery typically made of sugar, milk, and cocoa butter, but no cocoa solids. It is pale ivory in color, and lacks many of the compounds found in milk, dark, and other chocolates
This use of the chips is it makes a little sweet nugget that balances the salty/creamy/crunchy-ness of the nuts.
It doesnt try to be real chocolate, and using real chocolate in this cookie would overpower the nuts.
It is a name, just a name.
It makes a great cookie, especially for my NJ husband.
