German Potato Dumplings

a/k/a Kartoffelklösse.

I was looking for something different from mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, roasted potatoes.

And I had all this gravy.

Not hard to make, just labor-intensive and time-consuming, but worth it.

Boil potatoes in their skins. Let cool a little. Remove skins. Use a ricer or food mill. Combine with egg, flour, fresh nutmeg and cayenne. Roll into balls the size of golf balls or a little larger. Let simmer in water for about 20 minutes.

Mine were light and tasty.
