I made the 4-ingredient Magic Cake and it sucked. Save the ingredients for a better

cake recipe or brownie. it was like bland vanilla pudding on white bread.

Milk
eggs
sugar
flour
I added some vanilla

Baking soda and vinegar for leavening. No dairy.

I hit this on the first try, and despite the annoying clutter of ads it seems to be the real deal. The author claims it was developed in WWI. All the usual reasons: economizing and rationing.
