I got in great shape as an undergrad. Heavy lifting and a lot of money at GNC.
I'm back at school 20 years later with access to the university gym, but the place is full of social media kids and cameras and it weirds the heck out of me. Worth it to just pay for a gym not overrun by kids?
Appreciate any support to get me back to my game weight.

Just find a time of day when they are scarce.
Take the money you pay for a gym and save it for the new clothes you will need.

(2,113 posts)That is such a positive framed statement and I want you to know I really appreciated it. I know it wasn't meant as a grand motivational construction, but I just want to acknowledge that your reflexive support indicates to me that you are a good person.
In re: clothes, I got plenty. But some jeans are collecting dust. It is my hope to give 'em a good clean and let them re-enter the rotation.

(2,113 posts)and had the summers off, I'd work out late night taking of 24 hour open places. I couldn't sleep anyway, might as well take advantage of the gyms being empty.
Don't have the luxury anymore. No more summers off, no more 24 hour gyms, and a tiktok wasteland.

(2,113 posts)Running into my students. I don't know why. I'm sure it is a pretty common thing. I ironically feel so vulnerable when I'm heavy lifting.
