Sickle Cell Disease Association of America

The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America has launched a petition. In part, "A successful petition will not raise national awareness about the importance of sickle cell disease but also places SCD in a unique position to be supported in key branches of government to include Administration and Congress," according to SCDAA.

Please take time to sign this petition. I am affected by sickle trait and I have close friends who have sickle cell disease. It is devastating. More funding for research is desperately needed in order to get better treatment and hopefully a cure. The link contains more information, as well as a links to sign the petition. Thank you.

Am I correct in thinking that the research is close to a real break through? Time for the last push to get to the top of the mountain!

I'm not sure if a breakthrough is close at hand. Researchers are studying gene therapy and new medications as possible treatment courses, but more funding for research for finding a cure is greatly needed. I really appreciate you taking the time to sign the petition.
