I have it primarily in my toe and it only flares up one or two times a year (but is HORRIBLE when it does). I have been taking Pantothenic Acid daily and haven't had a flare up since (have also been loosing weight so that may be it, too). Apparently pantothenic acid (a B vitamin) helps the body deal with uric acid.

Knuedsen's Organic Just Tart Cherry Juice keeps mine under control. Once it dies down I can go off the juice. I just make sure I have plenty on hand for the next flare up. I can tell when I need to start drinking so I am able to mitigate the horrible pain I once had.
