"Flow", an animation masterpiece
Surely hope this unique film wins the Academy Award for best animated film. Its a sweet, poignant, moving, beautifully realized work of art with an inspiring message about cooperation in times of peril. If youre an animal lover, especially a cat fancier, you will adore this special film. My wife and I shed tears at the end. One of this years best films. Its on HBO/Max.

Lizzie...my cat, who never watches tv, sat with me the whole time and watched it, unable to tear herself away from the screen.

(1,366 posts)Reading audience reviews of the film on Rotten Tomatoes it seems that both cats and dogs pay close attention to the TV screen during the film. Must be both the real animal sounds and the authentic movements of the critters. Our cat was sound asleep on his perch while we watched it. Im going to put it on again when hes up and about and see how he responds.

(855 posts)Can anyone let me know if the cat or other animals come to any physical harm? My wife and i can handle scenes of tension but killing and/or injuring of cats (which we have three) and dogs or really any animal is something we actively avoid. Thanks we appreciate it.

(1,366 posts)Spoiler alert: There is a moment near the end of the film where it appears that a large fantastical whale-like creature is about to succumb (but if you continue watching after the final credits its still inconclusive). Although the cat and the other animals experience moments of peril, non of them are harmed.

(13,315 posts)Because I needed to take a break from the cat-in-peril moments before I could continue watching. I had to do the same with A Quiet Place: Day One. But it is totally worth it. The animal behavior is very well-observed and realistic, and the imagery is downright breathtaking. I can't imagine any competing nominee more worthy of the Oscar.
