"Young Sheldon" on Netflix
As most everyone knows, it's a show about "The Big Bang Theory" character Sheldon Cooper when he was a child, starting around age 9, when he begins high school with his older brother football jock Georgie, where their dad George is also the football coach. The family lives in very conservative Medford, Texas. Sheldon has a twin sister, who, to me, nearly steals the show, although their Meemaw (Annie Potts) is excellent too. I binged through all 6 seasons in a couple weeks and became so attached and loved the show so much that I've started rewatching it all again. The kid who plays Sheldon (Iain Armitage) is amazing. I love the whole family.

(25,469 posts)Just watched the first episode. Pretty cute. Is the "Big Bang Theory" good?
I can't imagine watching it without having seen at least *some* of TBBT.

(8,278 posts)How about through your library? I get 10 rentals per month through Hoopla. Is it not there?
Even just watching clips on youtube would be helpful to understand who adult Sheldon is: a brilliant physicist with a serious case of Asperger's. My favorite line from the show is once when his fellow-scientist/roomate Leonard made a sarcastic remark....oh wait, here, just watch:

(62,768 posts)irritation is the opening looking like a western location, although they are supposed to be in east Texas or central east Texas which is generally more flat and green.
BTW, The daughter of the actress playing Sheldon's mother on TBBT plays Young Sheldon's mother on YS.

(8,278 posts)I knew of Laurie Metcalf mostly from "Roseanne" years, and every time I see Mary, I think about how they cast the part. Never even occurred to me that they were related, lol, but of course they are! Thanks, you saved me another imdb lookup.

(62,768 posts)the casting was perfectly on target.
And Christine Baranski as Leonard's mom was perfection as well. She does "dry" so well I wanted to shake her.

(31,128 posts)I was pleased about how similar she was to the mother on TBBT, providing a smooth transition to the show.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Young Sheldon was perfect and the siblings were great characters too.
