The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has mercifully come to an end.
The first few seasons were exceptionally good. Season 5 was mostly awful. So much wasted opportunity.

(5,903 posts)I got into other things and didn't watch the subsequent seasons until just a month or so ago. I have to admit, I'm struggling to just get through season two. The story line jumps back and forth between too many corny scenes, like her mom's excursion to France, and then vacation in the Catskills. What was the purpose?
With the NBA playoffs winding down, I'll watch another episode tonight, but I doubt I'll be able to make it through all the seasons.

(41,896 posts)There were so many time jumps in Season 5 it felt like a bad case of vertigo.
Really a shame.
But I will say that Midges clothes in the early 60s were wonderful.

(7,236 posts)Green wool suit worn by Mrs. Moyers, the school principal (played by Arden Myrin), season 5, episode 8. It was my late mom's (onetime teacher), and she would have been ecstatic to see it repurposed appropriately.

Cant wait to see what the Palladinos do next.

(761 posts)Last season, it started to feel contrived. I tried 3 episodes this season and could not finish it. Too many frantic scenes, near-misses, and what happened to the jokes?

I am sad that it is over, actually.
I know many people that share your feelings, but I liked it more as time went on.

(26,687 posts)At least for the 1st 3 seasons. Then it took a disastrous turn to almost slapstick acting and storylines. Once the in-laws and parents started being a point of the storylines it was all downhill. The 4th season was so ridiculous, I almost didn't bother with the last season. Still have only watched a few of the 5th season episodes. Guess I just have to see how they wrap it up.

(25,480 posts)That said, I think it was season 3 where they focused on her in-laws. That got real tired, real fast. They were over-the-top stereotypes of Jewish Americans, I thought. Looking forward to binging Season 5.
