Diagnosis (Netflix)

Started watching this tonight and it is a very powerful series, A docudrama about a Dr. that writes columns for the NYT; crowdsourcing specific patients that exhibit issues that aren't diagnosed by our conventional medical establishment. While not every case has a happy ending, the power of crowdsourcing the person's medical problems results in a better outcome for those with incredibly esoteric afflictions.

Worth the watch....

Cooper had a number of issues including a cough, a large tumor, some anemia, and local costly vets wanted to just spend pointless money on sonograms and MRIs with no idea of actual treatment.

I took him on a recommendation to a farmers' vet who sees cats, dogs, goats, horses.

The vet said to send all the recent xrays and reports I had, he would send them to a working group of interns and vets who look at any case that's submitted. The next day he recommended Vetmedin oral medication and I swear it was a miracle that added a little more than a year of good life to this old dog and I love him for that.

I would call this a canine case of crowdsourcing a diagnosis and treatment strategy.

Thanks!
