Devotion on Paramount Plus

A touching true story that is well worth a watch. Note that there is more character development and story building in this than being a "war movie."

1. Looks like a FG-1D Corsair, the Navy's gull wing, prop-driven fighter.

There was a brief mention of a Mig-15 jet fighter the North Koreans had (mostly piloted by Russians). It took considerable skill for a much slower prop plane to go against much faster jet fighters. I guess the Black aviators weren't given the new F-86 Sabrejet yet (the Navy version was the FJ-4 Fury).

was 1950 if I recall correctly. There is a dogfight between a MIG and a corsair in the film though.

My father was a Marine during the Korean war and raved about the Corsair's maneuverability and speed and built several gas powered models of them so it was a treat to see them so prevalent in this film.

the F-86 debut close to the same time as the Air Forces' did. On further research I found that it was the FJ-2 and FJ-3 that the Navy got during the Korean war.
