(14,086 posts)It is largely directed at the transgender community and they would love to receive a signal to proceed with violence against that community. Of course, others will simply include anyone in the LGBT+ community in their vitriol and actions as we have seen in protests of drag time story hour in addition to dont say gay laws in multiple states to book bans to the growing attacks on DEI programs in businesses and governments.
The right is channeling all sorts of energy into these attacks and it is only going to get worse. Out of control protests and riots seem far more likely than not.
Even worse, there seems to be a growing rift between some members of the LGB segments of the community with the T segment of the community. This intra-community divisiveness, squabbling and separation will not yield worthwhile results and will likely be co-opted by nefarious forces.

(7,822 posts)Were going to all need to stand together. There is a little too much These attacks are really only going after Trans people. I dont like it, but its not like theyre going after all queer people Its not going to stop there, and honestly, they arent going to make those kinds of distinctions. You cant be one of the good ones to these people. They dont think theres any such thing.

Not as much as before, but many still look behind their backs/over their shoulders still.
Never will stop looking either.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
