Due to Russian shelling, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in southern Ukraine -- the largest in Europe -- has been disconnected from the grid. In his nightly address, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, quote, No other terrorist in the world has ever allowed himself to do to a nuclear power plant what Russia is doing now. The International Atomic Energy Agency says it is in contact with both Moscow and Kyiv to restore offsite power to the facility. The power plant is currently offline, but still needs outside power to maintain essential control and cooling functions.
Finland will send a military unit specializing in identifying and neutralizing drones to Denmark, said Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. The decision was approved on Tuesday by President Alexander Stubb and is a response to Denmarks request for help amid unidentified drone sightings.
Volodymyr Z. (last name withheld under applicable privacy laws), a Ukrainian diver wanted by Germany over his alleged involvement in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline explosions, was detained in Poland yesterday. According to Polish prosecutors, they are now waiting for their German counterparts to transfer relevant documents to Warsaw, which will determine whether he will be extradited from Poland.
