Terrifying Satellite Images Show Russian Army at Finland's Border

Satellite images show an increase in Russia's military activity near the country's border with Finland -- which experts say could signal the Kremlin's intention to beef up troops on NATO's eastern flank.

The pictures, which are from Planet Labs PBC, show an increased accommodation, aircraft deployment and infrastructure construction at four military bases near Finland.

"If the Russians follow their current plans, there can be tens of thousands (of) new soldiers near the borders of Norway, Finland and the Baltic countries in the coming years," Emil Kastehelmi, a Finnish military expert analyst said.

A spokesperson for the Finnish defense forces, however, told Newsweek that they "won't comment or speculate on operative observations."

I've never heard of this entity before. My long-time goto media evaluation site ( https://app.adfontesmedia.com/chart/interactive ) does not list it.

The link does show up on the Daily Mail and the Hindustan Times. I cannot find it on any of the wire services.

It *may* well be true (certainly *could* be). However, it is supper time and don't currently have time to try further to confirm this—so holding off on "recommend"

The Daily Express is a British right-wing tabloid newspaper that routinely utilizes sensational headlines such as this: NATO TERRIFIED: Trump may ‘seriously undermine’ alliance in Putin meeting – world on ALERT. Articles are typically written by journalists or correspondents and are reasonably sourced to credible information. However, like many tabloids, the Daily Express also publishes conspiracy and pseudoscience articles such as these: ‘Portal OPENS’ above New Jersey with some fearing it’s a sign of PLANET X and Could this strange corpse be the world’s first proof aliens have visited Earth?

I think the quote from the Finnish military analyst is accurate, as is the Newsweek quote from the spokesperson for the Finnish defense forces.

As far as I can see, the article itself contains no untruths; however, the last part of the title of the article relating to WW3 might be an exaggeration, so I'll edit that out.

These tabloids often print accurate information and sometimes before the more reputable and thorough publications. The problem with that is that they're also wrong much more often than the more reputable publications.

Also, they print stuff like the NJ space portal and possible alien corpses, which makes it hard to take them seriously.
