TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Stellantis said Wednesday about 1,100 workers will be laid off as it moves to a one-shift operating pattern.

The layoffs are expected to go into effect as early as Jan. 5, 2025. A message from the UAW leadership to members said it affected the Gladiator JT side.

A statement from a Stellantis spokesperson Wednesday said the move from a two-shift to a one-shift operating pattern is in an effort to reduce high inventory levels by managing production to meet sales.

“These are difficult actions to take, but they are necessary to enable the Company to regain its competitive edge and eventually return production to prior levels,” the company statement read.
