Snake falls into margarita at Henrico restaurant

It’s a story you have to see to believe. Carletta Andrews said she’s traumatized after a snake fell from the ceiling of a Mexican restaurant in Henrico County and into her margarita.

It happened at the Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Sandston in the evening of April 16. In an exclusive interview with 8News Anchor Autumn Childress, Andrews shared that she and her husband had just finished their food when she felt something on her forehead.

“I leaned in to take a sip and I noticed something hit me in the forehead and I looked at my husband like what was that,” Andrews said. “When I turned around, I saw the snake in my margarita.”

“It was moving. It started wrapping around my straw,” she said.

The rest is sort of a blur for Andrews. She recalls restaurant workers trying to remove the baby snake with a stick, but she said another customer grabbed it and released it outside.

A baby snake (probably a garter snake) falling in one's drink is the stuff of silly movies.

But, then, I'm fine with snakes as long as I see them first.

Decades ago, I experienced the best Tequila Sunrises of my life at a Holiday Inn bar/restaurant in Richmond. I've never had one like it nor been able to recreate it. Had a snake--even a baby--fallen into that drink, I might have been a bit more upset. LOL

I'd definitely rather not have snakes or other wildlife in my cocktails, but I do like snakes otherwise and I'd probably have alerted the waitstaff and just put the snake outside.

Snakes are everywhere and if you go to places where they might be a little more common and you have to freak out over a baby snake then why are you even there?

Maybe it was just one of those worms from a tequila bottle. Probably got drunk and drove off the road then fell out of the ceiling

12. But did they serve the drink? Children fall ill in India 'after dead snake found in school meal'

India's human rights body is investigating reports that more than 100 children fell ill from eating a school lunch after a dead snake was found in the food.

The cook reportedly still served the lunch despite removing the dead animal from it, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said in a statement.

The commission said about 500 children are believed to have been served the meal in the city of Mokama in Bihar state, eastern India.

After children started falling sick, locals blocked a road in protest, the NHRC said.
