Appleton election roundup: English unseats Van Eperen in Grand Chute; other results
APPLETON Fox Cities voters selected municipal government representatives in 13 contested races Tuesday amid a robust turnout for a spring election.
Grand Chute had perhaps the most high-profile race, with challenger Beth English handily defeating incumbent Jason Van Eperen for a two-year term as town chair. Van Eperen has been in office since 2021.
"I'm really excited to serve the town of Grand Chute as the next town chair," English told The Post-Crescent. "My two years on the board were consumed with legal depositions, responding to meritless ethics complaints, and litigation. Residents I've talked to want a board that's focus on their safety and their well-being."
"I'm very disappointed," Van Eperen said upon hearing the results. "I thought there was a lot of positive things that went on in the town to make things better."
