MADISON, Wis. -- Michael Verveer won Tuesday's Madison's District 4 alder election.

Verveer won by 53.8% of the vote while incumbent Michael Verveer received 46.2% of the vote, according to preliminary results.

District 4 encompasses the UW-Madison campus.

Yes, Verveer won, but he’s the incumbent. And he wasn’t running against himself. His opponent was Elias Tsarovsky.
