Martha Siravo on track to win contested Madison School Board election
Martha Siravo appeared on track Tuesday night to join the Madison School Board following an election against opponent Bret Wagner.
Siravo, a disability rights advocate, had received 54% of votes, when about 96% of precincts were reporting unofficial results. Wagner, an engineer, had received about 45% of votes in the School Board race.
I am so excited for this next chapter, where we all work together as champions for our kids, our schools and our community, Siravo said in a statement declaring her victory. Together, we have the power to make meaningful, sustainable and innovative changes in our education system.
Siravo would represent Seat 3 on the School Board, replacing Laura Simkin, who decided against a bid for reelection. Seat 4 incumbent Ali Muldrow and Seat 5 incumbent Nichelle Nichols are both set to remain on the board after running in unopposed races.
