Stanwood announces new police chief
A new police chief in Stanwood began service on Friday, a press release said.
The city announced Wednesday that Lt. Glenn DeWitt would replace Chief Jason Toner as Stanwood’s chief of police. Toner was promoted to commander of the south precinct with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, through which Stanwood contracts police services.
Stanwood spokesperson Nicole Strachila congratulated Toner on his new role in an email.
“The City appreciates Chief Toner’s many years of service and leadership,” she wrote. “He will be missed.”
