RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - Rutland is preparing for a visit from a motorcycle group with ties to organized crime.

City officials say the Outlaws Motorcycle Club is holding its national gathering at the Vermont state fair grounds starting this Thursday.

The group is on multiple federal watchlists with ties to organized crime.

While Rutland’s mayor doesn’t believe any issues will come up during the group’s time in the Marble City, he says it’s better to be prepared.

4. I've lived in or near Rutland...

... for nearly 50 years. The City of Light and Magic has had its problems, but its image will not be enhanced by the presence of a motorcycle gang with a rep that rivals that of the Hell's Angels. I got a bad feeling about this. A few hundred drunken bikers gathered at the Fairgrounds on Route 7? What could go wrong?

I'm only 25 miles from Rut-vegas. In rural Vermont 25 miles is just a milk run. I hope the Rutland PD has its A-game warmed up. I'm postponing any trips to the Big City until after those clowns are gone. Even if it's just traffic congestion, they're gonna be a pain in the ass.
