Texas Hispanics swung hard to Trump. A new poll shows they're furious at his deportations.

(Politico) Benny Melendez voted for President Donald Trump in 2024. But since Trump returned to the White House, it has been increasingly difficult for Melendez to run his small construction company in south Texas. He says immigration officers have detained workers at his job sites and while driving his company trucks. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 10 of those workers have been deported.

The chaos of the past year-and-a-half has convinced Melendez to abandon his support for Trump and Republicans, and instead back the Democrat in this year's U.S. Senate election, state Rep. James Talarico.

"How can we continue voting for someone that is targeting our community?" Melendez said. "There's no way possible we're going to support that. No way."

I have little patience for people who voted for Trump and are shocked by what he has done in just his first year of his second term. Your warning was in 2016 when candidate Trump said. "THEY'RE" drug dealers and rapist. Couple that will his view on migrants, and you should have known better.

So Bennie and others like Bennie: here is what you can about it. Get everyone you know to show up on election day and vote for the DEMOCRATIC! PARTY!

There is a reason Republicans say" Democrat Party" instead Democratic Party: the don't believe in democracy.

He ran on stopping the influx of migrants. Why did they think he'd exempt them? He doesn't care about anybody.

1. That’s exactly what they thought.
2. Now they are learning what racism is all about.

Is not the sharpest tool in the drawer.

He got what he voted for.

Unfortunately, so did the rest of us.

Latino men, she says, are loath to vote for a woman, so they mostly went to Trump in 2024.

I don't know whether it's true or not, but she would know better than me.

It looks like a LOT of men would vote for a pile of shit before they'd vote for any woman. And many women would, too.

So they got the pile of shit they voted for. Their misogyny cost them.

Well DUH.

12. Fact: Latinos are a plurality in Texas

Fact: Latinos are a plurality in Texas. I believe that the last census indicated that they were closing in on 40 per cent if they haven’t surpassed it already.

Moreover, there are more Latinos in Texas than there are Euro-Americans. Latinos can (or ought to) be upset about government goons demanding papers or detaining them for the “crime” of being brown.

Despite Texas Latinos’ earlier apathy, Trump-Miller era immigration bullying can have dire consequences for the Texas Republican Party. Enough kicking and even the most apathetic might finally lose their tempers and take it out on Republican politicians who either fell over themselves to support Donald John or chose to remain silent.
