Beaumont voters to decide $8.9M road extension in November bond election

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont residents will decide this November whether to fund a proposed $8.9 million road extension as part of the city’s $264 million bond package. Proposition E on the ballot calls for extending Pointe Parkway to connect with State Highway 105.

While city officials say the project will improve traffic flow and encourage development, not all neighbors are on board.

John Joseph, who lives on East Major Drive near the proposed extension, said the road would disrupt his neighborhood.

“It’s gonna be real busy, it’s gonna be noisy, a lot of traffic,” Joseph said. “The street will be running right on the side of our house. They cleared out this house for one, they cleared out this propertythey've just been clearing out land.”
