Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable will not seek re-election
BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable announced Monday that he will not seek re-election next year.
Venable has been the mayor for 15 years and also held the role from 2002 to 2006.
“It has been the greatest honor of my public life to have done so, and I want to thank our citizens for bestowing that honor,” Venable said in a statement.
The mayor said next year’s election “may well be the most important Sullivan County has ever had.”
