NEED TO KNOW: A conservative political action committee is behind a mailer, described by one good-government advocate as incredibly dishonest, that urges voters to reject new terms for three state Supreme Court justices. The PAC is closely connected to two other groups that have been highly visible in the fight to influence the Nov. 4 retention elections. Read Spotlight PAs full report on the group behind the misleading ad →
GOOD TO KNOW: The mailer in question is being funded by Commonwealth Leaders Fund, one of a network of PACs connected to libertarian stock trading billionaire Jeff Yass, and includes an image of a congressional map, with two of its more convoluted-looking districts circled in red. But thats not a map the current court drew. In fact, a GOP-controlled state legislature drew it in 2011. The current court overturned the map in 2018, declaring it a partisan gerrymander that favored Republicans.

The Spotlight PA website has been following Jeff Yass (the wealthiest person in Pennsylvania) and reporting on his political activities for at least 10 years that I know of, and maybe longer.
I did receive this mailer last week, and I spotted the false equivalency immediately. NO we don't want to "defeat" the current Supreme Court judges (who are running for a 2nd term) in Pennsylvania. And NO it has nothing to do with "helping the Democrats to win."
What helped Dems to win in the last 3 elections was the effort to DEFEAT GOP gerrymandering, which we finally did in 2020. Why would we want to undo that now? It's essential that we RETAIN these 3 judges for a 2nd term on the PA Supreme Court. Please don't fall for this nonsense.

Another says the Court pardoned a sexual predator.
High marks for scare tactics, expect to see this garbage twice a week for a month, typical hedge fund Billionaire poison.
