Related: About this forumDemocrats Bridget Malloy Kosierowski and Movita Johnson-Harrell have just been declared WINNERS
Breaking News,
of tonight's special elections for a pair of seats in the Pennsylvania House!
Bridget's incredible, 24-point victory marks yet another dramatic Democratic win in a district carried by Donald Trump. It also prevents one of the most extreme right-wing candidates we've ever seen from taking a seat in the Pennsylvania capitol.
In another key race, Movita will break barriers as the first-ever Muslim woman to serve in the Pennsylvania legislature. Voters sent a powerful message tonight rejecting the GOP's racism, hate, and conspiracy-mongering, and electing two amazing Democratic women instead.

meaning the composition of the state house did not change except Dems now have filled their 2 vacancies. Rs still hold a 110-93 advantage, which is down from the 121-82 edge they held before Nov 2018.

Bridget Malloy Kosierowski Wins HD114
Written by John Cole, Managing Editor
The seat stays blue. ... Democratic candidate Bridget Malloy Kosierowski defeated Republican Frank Scavo for the 114th House District in Lackawanna County. ... She won by nearly 25 points with 100% of precincts reporting according to unofficial results.
This seat garnered the attention of politicos in Pennsylvania and beyond due to the significant shift in voting in recent presidential elections, coupled with a series of anti-Muslim Facebook posts from the GOP candidate.
The mostly white working class district voted for President Barack Obama by 18 points in 2012 over Gov. Mitt Romney, but was won by Donald Trump over Sec. Hillary Clinton by close to 8 points. ... The exodus of these voters in 2016 from the Democratic Party caused excitement for Republicans in Pennsylvania and other rustbelt areas where they saw opportunities to flip some traditionally blue seats that went for Trump.
The 114th House District was represented by the late state Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich (D-Lackawanna) who died in October at the age of 62 from complications of open heart surgery. Kavulich represented the seat since 2011.
