Thousands pack Wyden town halls over uncertainty in DC
Wyden trying to rein 'practices not in compliance with the Constitution'
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) Thousands of people packed two separate town halls with Sen. Ron Wyden Saturday afternoon to try and make sense of just what is going on in Washington, DC.
It is rare for thousands of people to join these town halls, especially since Wyden makes it a point to hold town halls very often and visits all 36 Oregon counties. But these are not ordinary times.
At the first town hall at Poynter Middle School in Hillsboro, around 2000 people filled the auditorium before others had to be turned away. Some of that overflow was encouraged to head to the second town hall at the Scappoose Middle School later in the afternoon a town hall that saw about 600 people fill that space.
Susan Phillips of Washington County said she saw cars stretched for miles for the parking.
