Ads target three Oklahoma Supreme Court justices

OKLAHOMA CITY – A group frustrated by Oklahoma Supreme Court rulings has launched an unusual campaign aimed at convincing voters to remove three justices at the November ballot box.

Critics though said the effort is “tragic” and is a knee-jerk reaction by some who want to alter the makeup of the Oklahoma’s highest court because they disagree with the court’s decisions.

The ads target Justices Noma Gurich, Yvonne Kauger and James Edmondson. The ads list their ages as being older than 71.

The ads are being sponsored by People for Opportunity, which has board representatives from the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, a conservative activist group that is a regular in legislative politics. People for Opportunity lists OCPA President Jonathan Small as one of its board members, along with Trent England, one of its fellows.

4. Just saw their ad on KFOR News (Oklahoma City)

The entire ad is about these judges being "LIBERAL!" Doesn't have any information on any of their past decisions or other history, just liberal. Liberal is the ultimate sin here in Okiehoma, so they will probably be removed. If these judges are removed, it will give our ignorant, jerk governor the opportunity to appoint six judges to the Okla. Supreme Court of which there are nine, total. (He has already appointed three.)
I've wanted out of this state for years, and since my spouse died two weeks ago, I'll probably leave. I only stayed here for her, so I'm more than done with this crap state. Don't get me wrong, I think that there are many wonderful people here, but just not enough of them to change the government.

I feel your pain and think you will be happier in a more progressive state or at least somewhere more progressive. I left Oklahoma a long time ago but still have relatives there; I have been disappointed with how the state has gone so dark red and elected such radical politicians. When I grew up there we had a lot of Democrat Governors and the state handled desegregation well. Now it is a failed PetroState.
