What is Fifty Fifty One?
The #50501 protests were a decentralized rapid response to the anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies. The idea—50 protests in 50 states on 1 day—was born on r/50501 and spread rapidly on social media.
In just days, grassroots organizers—without any budget, centralized structure, or official backing—pulled off over 80 protests in all 50 states.
The protests were covered by every major media outlet, showing the world that the American working class will not sit idly by as plutocrats rip apart their democratic institutions and civil liberties while undermining the rule of law.
Who is 50501 For?
One of the biggest reasons this movement grew so fast was because it was nonpartisan. We built 50501 around one message: Upholding the Constitution. • Limiting executive overreach is not a left or right issue—it’s an American issue. • Standing up for human rights is not a partisan issue—it’s about justice. • Protecting democracy is not about political labels—it’s about our future. We recently heard concerns that this movement is shifting in a partisan direction. We want to be absolutely clear—this movement is about protecting everyone’s rights. The Constitution belongs to all of us, regardless of political affiliation, and so does this movement. At the same time, we cannot ignore real threats to democracy, and we will not shy away from calling them out when we see them. However, this is not about one political party versus another—it is about holding leaders accountable to the Constitution and protecting the rights of all Americans. This movement welcomes anyone who stands for democracy, for freedom, and for justice. We refuse to let our country be divided against itself. The moment we start seeing each other as enemies rather than neighbors, the people in power win. That is why we must keep our focus on uniting around our shared values and standing together against any and all attempts to undermine democracy.
What is "We the People Protest" About?
The current administration has made it clear: they value profits over people. We refuse to stand by while they dismantle our rights, our communities, and our future. We are not just numbers. We are not just consumers. We are the People. We reject fascism. We reject the oligarchy. We reject any system that places profit, power, or privilege over human dignity. 50501 is not just a movement—it’s a national call for justice that’s already making waves.
Order of Events
At 3 PM, we will meet on the sidewalk of the north side of the North Carolina State Capitol Building. At 3:10 we will begin our march. We will march PEACEFULLY around the capitol building until 5 PM. There is a hard end time of 5 PM and everyone needs to be cleared out at 5 PM.
