Tornado on the ground in northwest Grand Rapids moving southeast,

Storm chaser just missed it on Alpine Avenue. Debris flying around, power flashes.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Central Kent County in southwestern Michigan...

* Until 845 PM EDT.

* At 821 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Grand Rapids, moving southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

Grand Rapids, Kentwood, East Grand Rapids, and Rockford around 825
PM EDT.
Gerald R. Ford International Airport around 830 PM EDT.
Lowell around 835 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

Phone ER message came through warning til 8:45. Decided to stay down here little longer.

Williamston, Fowlerville, Howell in the path, heading towards Ann Arbor. We're still getting thunder here in Lansing, but the worst is over. Lots of power outages in Lansing, but I lucked out...so far.

Stay safe. !!!
I think there was a siting within 10 miles of my house. I had put everything in my yard down & away. Put a car cover on 1 car in case of hail. Someone in the family on west side here had a broken window from hail. Def worst is over now, but East is getting it.

Lots of branches down in my area, but the worst is just North a mile or two. Was scary.
