Dreaming...If it weren't so cold there and I 30 yrs younger, I'd be interested in moving to Detroit. It fascinates me. The amazing buildings falling to ruin.. If I were a billionaire I'd renovate and make each and every one a public facility for learning and play.
Art classes, sports grounds, performance spaces.

I'm not a fan of using public funds to restore private clubhouses.

Most of the other items in the article are open to the public: the fountain, bhe aquarium, etc, so I don't mind my taxes going to rmaintain them.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
