So, about 2- weeks ago. I got close to 2'ft of powder snow. That melted pretty quick (50%) until about 8 days ago when

I got 6 " of heavy, wet snow. Had to use the 4WD to make it to the house (2nasalit can attest to this). Now, all snow gone and the grass has greened from a dead brown to a "you're gonna have to cut me soon" green. Thought the road would be major washout, but not the case. I'll be raking it in a couple of weeks to "as new" condition.

1. The town plow got stuck in the road to our mountain place

By the time the plow was towed out, the road was a swampy rutted morass. I snowshoed in last Sunday. Wont be going back for a while.

2. Sucks...but you have to have a road foundation if you live off town maintained roads.

I have a 100' riser over 500 ft road....I shed a hundred acres of fields/woods moisture behind and above me. Gotta say, the road held up pretty well. Needs a good raking....when the water flow dries out.

3. It's complicated. The town wants to stop maintaining it

The current road commissioner believes the town is only responsible for plowing and that repairs are up to the state. We are the only private property on the road and documentation is sketchy. The property is surrounded by state park. I think getting the plow stuck may set off a situation. No one lives there all the time anymore. We shall see.
