Incumbent Freddie King wins New Orleans City Council District C race

New Orleans District C Councilman Freddie King, III won reelection Saturday, besting three opponents to win the primary outright and secure a second term.

King, an attorney and Democrat who lives in English Turn, won with 64% of the vote with all precincts reporting.

King highlighted new recreational offerings and affordable housing that opened under his tenure, among other achievements.

"It’s important to recognize that District C has not had a two-term elected district councilmember since Congressman Troy Carter," King told WDSU-TV, speaking about Carter's run as a councilmember.
