New faces coming to New Orleans City Council

NEW ORLEANS — It’s a seven-member council that holds a lot of power… and will look a bit different when New Orleans voters weigh in.

“It’s part of the natural order of things in politics. There’s always change in the air, especially since term limits have come around,” said WWL Political Analyst Clancy DuBos.

Three council seats are guaranteed to have new members. At-large Councilwoman Helena Moreno, who is term-limited, is running for mayor. So is District E Councilman Oliver Thomas. District A Councilman Joe Giarrusso, also term-limited, decided not to seek higher office.

“We’ve got those three seats that we know will have new faces, and then you have three others who are challenged,” said DuBos.
