In-person voting process now underway in Lyon County after event at Extension Office

Lyon County has started its in-person voting processes ahead of the Nov. 4 general election.

The process got started with the now-traditional offsite voter event at the Lyon County Extension Office on Saturday. County Clerk and Election Officer Amie Jones says it’s a way to help voters cast their ballots if they can’t make it to the polls during more regular times. She says there are still questions about how the event works, even though it has been part of the Lyon County voting schedule for around a decade.

Other election cycles get more attention and more voters, but Jones says the local election slate this time is an important voting cycle in its own regard.

Jones will continue her weekly interview series on KVOE’s Morning Show at 8:45 am Monday, discussing mail ballot procedures. In-office voting begins at the Lyon County Courthouse on Monday — the same day that in-person voting begins at the Osage County Courthouse in Lyndon. In-person voting is already underway in Alma, Burlington, Cottonwood Falls and Council Grove. In-person voting begins for Greenwood County voters Oct. 27 in Eureka.
