$69M bond on ballot for Okoboji Community School District

OKOBOJI, Iowa (KCAU) — The Okoboji Community School District is among a list of Siouxland school districts asking voters to approve bond measures.

The referendum carries a cost of $69 million. $42 million would be used to construct a new elementary school, and approximately $27 million would complete renovations at the high school.

The renovations of the new high school will include classroom additions, a kitchen and commons area expansion, and remodel, along with the construction of a new multipurpose facility that would primarily house the wrestling program.

“This is the last piece,” superintendent Todd Abrahamson said. “So over the nine years, the various school boards and our current school board have done their due diligence, and that’s exciting that they’ve taken their time and we’re now to the final piece.”
