Hey, an Indiana middle school teacher is gearing to run against Tony Bennett.

He could probably use some DU bump. It looks like Bennett has $500,000+ in campaign funds and Mr. Oakley has....$8,000.

-- Here's his (modest) website - www.oakley2012.org

-- And facebook - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Justin-Oakley-2012/146223512140632

-- Also has a semi-detached page for thanking teachers with videos where people can thank teachers for changing their lives.

I don't know what chance he has of beating Bennett, but a little DU word of mouth couldn't hurt.

He seems like a good person who truly wants to help our schools dig out of the hole the republicans have put us in.

His web site is at:

I'm in the background of one of his photos.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
