Who paid for Colts tickets to game Pence abruptly left? Disclosure report spills the beans

WASHINGTON — Oil tycoon Forrest Lucas paid for Vice President Pence to attend the Indianapolis Colts game he walked out of last year after some players on the opposing team knelt during the national anthem, according to Pence's 2017 financial disclosure report released Wednesday.

Pence reported receiving from Lucas two tickets worth $774 for the October game held at Lucas Oil Stadium, named for the company Lucas and his wife founded in 1989.

Pence wanted to attend the game because former star quarterback Peyton Manning was being honored.

But Pence left early, saying he wouldn’t “dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our flag, and our national anthem." Critics called it a pre-planned political stunt at taxpayers’ expense.
