This is why I will NOT use in person early voting in DuPage

As far as I know only touchscreen voting is available for in person early voting.

No Thank You

I’ll stand in line for however long it takes and have a paper ballot for the optical scan machine. In the end there is at least a paper ballot with my choices marked on it.

Please let us know about turnout. I can't ask him anything until his long, long day is over.

I did the election judge gig for 20 years, I just can’t do the 5am to 9pm thing anymore..and I never got to leave much being the lone democratic judge many elections.

DuPage is better than it used to be...the first primary I worked we had 7 D ballots pulled in our precinct and my household accounted for 3 of them..much better now.

And yes, only touch screens are available in the city of Chicago at early voting sites as well . I’ve always voted on Election Day ( except, unavoidably, once before ) using paper ballots with optiscan. And I’ve been leery of using touch screens. But I have to say, I felt quite secure casting my ballot. I was able to go through and check my entire ballot first on screen, and then it printed a paper receipt showing how I voted on each race (including all 57 or so judicial retentions). I could visibly view the paper receipt before I chose to press the button to cast the ballot.

The process was transparent and easy, and I felt just as confident as I normally do in the end. I had to vote early because I am out of town and returning only on Tuesday afternoon. I was worried that if my plane were delayed or cancelled, I wouldn’t be able to vote at all. It’s the airlines I really don’t trust!
